Volunteer

Dear Partners and Volunteers,

The H1N1 caution is over and we are open for group visits again. You can send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or give us a call at 6359 9173 to make arrangements.

Please note the following guidelines for group visits:

1. Please make visit arrangements with us at least 2 weeks in advance to allow for preparations and facilitation.

2. The program list and/or catering menu should be given to us at least a week before the date of visit in order for the Nursing Department to vet and confirm it.

3. For CIP visits by schools, please note that we can only accept post secondary (ITE/JC/Polytechnic) students and older. Schools that wish to have their younger students participate in CIP activities with the Lions Home might want to consider our flag day or fundraising projects instead.

4. Upper Secondary Students may be considered on a case by case basis if the program is unique in nature and exceptionally well planned, or if they are from our long standing partner schools.

5. Please note that noisy or rowdy children are not suitable to be brought into our premises, as our elders' well being and comfort is our first priority. Volunteers who wish to bring children performing groups should ensure that the children are well behaved and monitored by the adult volunteers at all times.

6. Visit activities should centre around performances (songs, dances, skits, magic, Chinese opera, etc), light interactive games (mini bowling, hoop/ball tossing, parcel passing, bingo, lotto, chess, board games, and creative DIY tabletop games, etc), handicrafts, origami, drawing, painting, and/or catering of tea time and snacks, for and with the elders.

7. Please inform us beforehand if you wish to distribute goodie items or Ang Pows (red packets) to the elders so that we can arrange a walkabout of the ward to facilitate the distribution to the elders.

8. Please note that we do not entertain requests for tours and learning groups, except where invitation has been expressly extended by our top management.

9. We appreciate that some volunteers may wish to help out in cleaning, gardening, and other chores, but we already have existing contractors taking care of those tasks and do not require additional help at the moment.

10. We hope that all volunteer visits would be an occasion of warmth and enjoyment for our elders, and a fulfilling and encouraging endeavour for the volunteers. Towards this goal, your cooperation with us so as to make the best out of the visit is most appreciated.
